玉华台饭庄创建于民国十年(公元1921年),是北京以经营淮扬风味菜肴而著称的老店,其名取自隋炀帝为在扬州欢宴所建楼台之名。1994年,被原国内贸易部评为“中华老字号”。2006年被国家商务部重新认定为“中华老字号”。玉华台是原为私人家厨的淮扬籍人士马玉林(即马召华)创建的。初建时,店址位于王府井北口八面槽,马玉林的东家---杨菱青为该店题“玉华台”名相赠。马玉林和由扬州等地请来的几位师兄弟操厨,由于菜品风味独特,质高味美,生意极好,赢得了大批食客光临,有“营业殊不恶,年计流盛时可达十万金”的记载。当时,由于营业面积不敷使用,遂迁至锡拉胡同1号的一座深宅大院,只办包桌定座酒席,承出“外会”(即派员到顾客家中承办筵席),不卖散座。1950年该店迁至西交民巷,改称“玉华”食堂。1959年迁至西单地区,既包办酒席,也接待散座客人。由于生意兴隆,其营业面积仅有五间小雅座、一个散座厅,难以满足顾客的就餐需要,在1964年又迁至西单北大街217号,并恢复了“玉华台”饭庄的老字号。文革期间改为“淮扬饭庄”,该店有营业面积400平方米,楼下散座,楼上东、西、南三厅可同时接待200人就餐,其中东南厅为雅座厅,可容纳60人同时就餐,属于市一级餐馆。其后,由于城市改造,拓宽马路,玉华台饭庄几经辗转迁至现址西城区马甸裕中西里23号楼。
玉华台现有建筑面积455平方米,营业面积154平方米,有一个散座大厅和4个雅间。2007年玉华台被国家商务部重新认定为“中华老字号”。

At that time, because the business area was not enough to use, it was moved to a deep courtyard at No. 1 Xila Hutong, where only tables and seats were reserved, and the "Waihui" (i.e. staff were sent to the customer's home to host the banquet) was held, instead of selling the seats. In 1950, the shop moved to xijiaomin lane, renamed "Yuhua" canteen. In 1959, he moved to Xidan district, where he not only arranged the banquet, but also received the casual guests. Due to the booming business, its business area is only five small elegant seats and one scattered hall, which is difficult to meet customers' dining needs. In 1964, it moved to 217 Xidan North Street, and restored the old name of "Yuhuatai" restaurant. During the cultural revolution, it was changed to "Huaiyang restaurant". The shop has a business area of 400 square meters. There are scattered seats downstairs. The East, West and South three halls upstairs can receive 200 people at the same time.
