He founded a new company, William Zinsser & Co., Inc., with the aim of quality and innovation. For 170 years, the Zinsser brand has adhered to these principles. Zinsser specializes in the production of: interior and exterior wall reinforcement primer, shellac primer, anti mildew primer, ceiling bottom / surface two in one paint and other functional coating products. William Zinsser immigrated from Germany to New York in 1849 and founded the first shellac bleaching plant in the United States in Western Manhattan. He founded a new company, William Zinsser & Co., Inc., with the aim of quality and innovation. For more than 150 years, the Zinsser brand has been adhering to these principles. In 1853, Zinsser's first shellac product, white French varnish, won the first best product award at an international exhibition in Philadelphia. The company's shellac solution - Bull's eye shellac - as the first fast drying transparent wood paint in the United States, will soon be popular. So far, "bullseye" and "Zinsser" have become synonyms of "highest quality". In 1910, William III, grandson of William Zinsser, and Rudolph took over the company and set up a Chicago factory in 1921. They started to produce bin primer / sealant in furniture industry in 1946 and produced bull's eye shellac primer ready to use in 1955. In 1982, bull's eye 1-2-3 primer was produced. Before RPM Group acquired the first house wide water primer / sealant in 1986, Zinsser was a family business. As a subsidiary of RPM, Zinsser continued to grow after being acquired. At the same time, some companies acquired by Zinsser also played a positive role in the development of the company, including: Wolman woodcare products (1984) zehrung (1997) modernmaster (2001) walworks (2002) parkcorp (2002) okon (2005) in 2009, Zinsser became a branch of rust oleum.
