南京市鼓楼幼儿园前身鼓楼幼稚园,由教育家陈鹤琴先生于1923年创办。
在六朝古都南京的鼓楼高岗之上,坐落着中国幼儿教育研究的发源地南京市鼓楼幼儿园。幼儿园的创始人是陈鹤琴先生。
1923年,陈鹤琴在自己住宅里办起幼稚园,取名南京市私立鼓楼幼稚园。陈鹤琴试图在鼓楼幼稚园的试验田里,将西方的教育学说同中国的具体条件相结合,探索适合中国国情的、符合儿童身心发展特点的、中国化科学化的儿童教育。据此,鼓楼幼儿园确立了办学宗旨:探索适合中国国情的、科学化、大众化的幼儿教育道路。
1952年市政府接办鼓楼幼稚园,更名为南京市鼓楼幼儿园。从鼓楼岗上的私家小院起步,鼓楼幼儿园已近百年。幼儿园遵循创始人陈鹤琴一切为儿童;的教诲,培养了一批敬业、乐业、专业、创业的优秀教师。现本园专任教师达到本科或研究生学历,培养了多名省特级教师、市基础教育专家、市名校长、市名教师、市学科带头人、市优秀青年教师,优秀教师的数量在全市名列前茅。
三十年多来,幼儿园在队伍建设、课程研究、科学管理上研究探索,先后开展了活动教育的实验研究;单元教育课程;幼儿园与小学衔接的研究等重大课题研究,取得丰硕成果。
1987年幼儿园较早开展了活动教育的研究,力图让儿童在与材料、环境的交互作用中主动积极学习,提出儿童在前,教师在后的理念。
1988年起,幼儿园以活教育思想为指导分三个阶段对单元教育园本课程进行的实验研究,在全国产生了广泛影响。
2013年沿着活教育的轨迹寻找幼儿园历史文化图谱的研究列为全国十二五教育科学规划课题;
鼓楼幼儿园现有本部、亲子园部、聚福园部、瑞园部、南外附属幼儿园五个园所,其中四所公办园统一管理。
鼓楼幼儿园继承陈鹤琴先生的传统,一贯重视教育教学研究。开展了“活动教育课程”、“单元教育课程”“幼小衔接”“儿童社会性发展研究”等多项重要课题的研究。
幼儿园常年向全国幼教同行开放,近年来,接待了数以万计慕名前来参观的学习者。 近十年来,鼓幼教师们撰写了近四百篇的文章、论文,其中344篇在省、市、区获奖,364篇在报刊杂志上发表。另外,教师们还独立编著了《多多看世界》、《幼儿园墙饰》《幼儿智力训练材料》、《家长手册》等近两百本教师用书和幼儿读物,另有部分教材与读物尚在编写中。
