湖南师范大学创建于1938年，位于历史文化名城长沙。学校现有7个校区，占地2700余亩，建筑面积119余万平方米。主校区西偎麓山，东濒湘江，风光秀丽。

学校设有24个学院，85个本科招生专业，本科和研究生教育覆盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、医学、管理学、艺术学等11大学科门类。

学校现有专任教师1800余人。学校先后同41个国家和地区的159所大学和机构建立合作与交流关系，开展人员交流、教学和科研合作，并分别与俄罗斯喀山联邦大学、韩国圆光大学、美国南犹他大学共建孔子学院。学校拥有教育部来华留学示范基地、教育部出国留学培训与研究中心和国务院侨办华文教育基地。美国研究中心等三个国别和区域研究中心进入教育部国别和区域研究中心备案名单。学校图书馆藏书392余万册，其中古籍22万余册，订购各类文献数据库103个。

建校以来，学校已为国家输送毕业生40余万人，培养了一大批国际学生和港澳台学生，校友遍布海内外。在校学生3.6万人，其中研究生近9000人，长短期国际学生近1600人，已形成多规格、多层次的办学格局。

Hunan Normal University, founded in 1938, is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city. The school has 7 campuses, covering an area of more than 2700 Mu and a building area of more than 1.19 million square meters. The main campus nestles in the foot mountain in the West and Xiangjiang River in the East, enjoying beautiful scenery. The university has 24 colleges and 85 undergraduate enrollment majors. The undergraduate and postgraduate education covers 11 disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, art and so on. The school has more than 1800 full-time teachers. The university has successively established cooperation and exchange relations with 159 universities and institutions in 41 countries and regions, carried out personnel exchange, teaching and scientific research cooperation, and jointly built Confucius Institute with Russian Federation University of Kazan, South Korean University of Yuanguang and University of South Utah in the United States. The school has the Ministry of education to study in China demonstration base, the Ministry of education to study abroad training and research center and the State Council Overseas Chinese education base. Three national and regional research centers, including the US research center, have entered the filing list of national and regional research centers of the Ministry of education. The school library has a collection of more than 3.92 million books, including more than 220000 ancient books and 103 various literature databases. Since its establishment, the school has delivered more than 400000 graduates to the country, trained a large number of international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, with alumni all over the world. There are 36000 students in school, including nearly 9000 graduate students and nearly 1600 long-term and short-term international students.
