创始人任明卿先祖原姓桂,系清朝中期桂系皇族。任明卿先生凭籍昆明四季如春,祥和温磬的人文、地理优势,选址于昆明玉带河畔复兴村,始亮“桂美轩”字号。“桂美轩”“桂”字为首,一则每逢中秋思念亲人,愿人间千里共婵娟,二则桂花飘香,美名远扬。

“桂美轩”恒持“诚信为本,让利于民”的经营宗旨。短短数年间,昆明“四河六坝,八街十六巷”就广为流传:“桂美轩”最实惠,点心好吃价不贵,壹两贰的饼子只当壹两卖。特别是“桂美轩”云腿四两坨以其制作精细,工艺考究,色、香、味俱佳而成为“桂美轩”看家产品,久盛不衰。成为昆明当地达官显贵,乃至平民百姓每逢中秋佳节首先品尝、馈赠亲朋之佳品。

一九五六年春,“桂美轩”在政府的大力支持下,联合昆明九家糕点作坊,并重新选址在中外闻名的“护国起义”原址:昆明市护国路40号,共同组建了(国营)昆明市桂美轩糕点厂。二〇〇五年十一月,(国营)昆明市桂美轩糕点厂改制成立昆明桂美轩食品有限公司。

In November 2005, Kunming guimeixuan cake factory was restructured to establish Kunming guimeixuan Food Co., Ltd.
