上海凤凰毛毯是国产毛毯的老字号，从1922年创立至今，已有九十多年的历史，现在的上海凤凰毯业是上海龙头股份(集团)有限公司的全资子公司。

凤凰毛毯起源于1922年商人陆培芝创办的一家纱厂，其后几年该厂几经转手，并于1937年被侵华日军占有，划为海军衣量厂，专织军毯。1943年这间纱厂解除军管后被日本商人德珍正藏收购，改厂名为明丰纱厂。

1945年9月明丰纱厂由经济部接管（即中国纺织建设公司）改厂名上海第十八棉纺织厂，扩展棉纺设备，生产棉纱、线为主，兼营棉毯，直至上海解放。1955年底又转为专营棉毯、羊毛毯。

1972年，美国总统尼克松首次访华，当时根据市政府的指示，作为政治任务，上海第十八棉纺织厂对其所使用的商标“凤凰”重新设计并注册，新的“凤凰毛毯”作为国礼赠送给美国总统尼克松，从此上海凤凰毛毯享誉海内外，风靡市场。

1978年9月起将棉毯业务下放给南汇公社厂生产。第十八棉纺织厂与上海金山石油化工一期工程配套，专门生产腈纶毯、毛毯，更改厂名为上海毛毯厂。

In 1943, the mill was removed from military control and was purchased by Japanese businessman Dezhen zhengzang. The mill was renamed Mingfeng mill. In September 1945, Mingfeng textile factory was taken over by the Ministry of economy (i.e. China Textile Construction Corporation) and changed its name to Shanghai 18th cotton textile factory. It expanded cotton spinning equipment, mainly produced cotton yarn and thread, and concurrently operated cotton blanket until the liberation of Shanghai. At the end of 1955, it became a franchise in cotton blanket and wool blanket. In 1972, President Nixon of the United States visited China for the first time. At that time, according to the instructions of the municipal government, as a political task, Shanghai 18th cotton textile mill redesigned and registered its trademark "phoenix", and the new "Phoenix blanket" was presented to President Nixon as a national gift. Since then, Shanghai Phoenix blanket has been famous at home and abroad and popular in the market. Since September 1978, the cotton blanket business has been transferred to Nanhui commune factory for production. The 18th cotton textile factory is equipped with Shanghai Jinshan Petrochemical phase I project, specializing in the production of acrylic blanket and blanket. The name of the factory is changed to Shanghai blanket factory.
