广东粤港供水有限公司，隶属于广东粤海集团，是2000年在原广东省东江-深圳供水工程管理局的基础上经过改制后成立的一家中外合作企业。东深供水工程管理局成立于1965年，其职能是负责东深供水工程管理、对香港、深圳和东莞供应和销售原水。广东粤港供水有限公司成立后，承接了东深供水工程管理局的上述职能。

广东省东江-深圳供水工程是我国政府和人民为解决香港淡水供应困难，而建立起来的一项跨流域大型引水工程。首期工程于1964年2月动工，1965年3月建成并正式向香港供水，年供水能力达0.68亿立方米。随着社会经济的发展，为了满足香港、深圳、东莞等地的用水需求，工程又先后进行了三次扩建。1974年3月至1978年9月进行了第一期扩建，年供水能力达2.88亿立方米；1981年10月到1987年10月进行了第二期扩建，年供水能力达8.63亿立方米；1990年9月至1994年1月进行了第三期扩建，年供水能力达17.43亿立方米。

为从根本上解决供水水质问题并增强供水能力，经国家计委批准，2000年广东省政府对东深供水工程进行全线改造。该工程总投资47亿元，2003年改造后供水规模达24.23亿立方米/年。东深供水改造工程的投产运行，使东深供水方式由天然河道和人工渠道输水变为封闭式管道输水，从而实现清污分流，东深供水水质得到根本的改善并优于国家Ⅱ级水源标准。

从1965年3月1日至2016年底，东深供水工程累计供水达495亿立方米，为保障香港的繁荣稳定和深圳、东莞经济发展作出了重大的贡献，东深水被誉为“生命水、政治水、经济水”。

Dongjiang Shenzhen water supply project in Guangdong Province is a large-scale cross basin water diversion project established by Chinese government and people to solve the problem of fresh water supply in Hong Kong. The first phase of the project was started in February 1964, completed in March 1965 and officially supplied water to Hong Kong, with an annual water supply capacity of 68 million cubic meters. With the development of social economy, in order to meet the water demand of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Dongguan and other places, the project has been expanded three times. From March 1974 to September 1978, the first phase was expanded with an annual water supply capacity of 288 million cubic meters; from October 1981 to October 1987, the second phase was expanded with an annual water supply capacity of 863 million cubic meters; from September 1990 to January 1994, the third phase was expanded with an annual water supply capacity of 1743 million cubic meters. In order to fundamentally solve the water quality problem and enhance the water supply capacity, Guangdong provincial government carried out the whole line reconstruction of Dongshen water supply project in 2000 with the approval of the State Planning Commission. The total investment of the project is 4.7 billion yuan, and the water supply scale after reconstruction in 2003 is 2.423 billion cubic meters per year. The operation of Dongshen water supply reconstruction project has changed the mode of Dongshen water supply from natural river channel and artificial channel to closed pipeline, so as to realize the separation of clean water and sewage. The water quality of Dongshen water supply has been fundamentally improved and is superior to the national level II water source standard. From March 1, 1965 to the end of 2016, the total water supply of Dongshen water supply project reached 49.5 billion cubic meters, which made great contributions to the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and the economic development of Shenzhen and Dongguan. Dongshen water is known as "life water, political water and economic water".
