淮北矿业始建于1958年，前身为淮北矿务局，1998年改制为淮北矿业(集团)有限责任公司，同年由直属煤炭部划转为安徽省直属企业，现已发展成为以煤电一体化、煤盐化工、现代物流为主的国有大型企业。与国内煤炭企业相比，淮北矿区煤炭赋存极为特殊，一方面，地质构造复杂，煤层稳定性差，不适宜建大矿；另一方面，煤种优势极为突出，肥煤、焦煤、瘦煤等稀缺煤种占总储量的85％以上。

公司现有资产900亿元、员工7.5万人；生产矿井23对，核定生产能力3737万吨/年，年产冶炼精煤1000万吨以上，是华东地区颇大的冶炼精煤生产基地；电力装机规模200万千瓦；具备年产440万吨焦炭、联产40万吨甲醇和46万吨PVC生产能力，并初步形成了集煤炭销售、物资贸易、航运港口、园区建设、电子商务为一体的现代物流体系。2015年，全公司实现营业收入522亿元。

50多年来，淮北矿业累计生产原煤8亿多吨，上缴利税300多亿元。

It is a large production base of refined coal in East China. The installed capacity of electric power is 2 million kilowatts. It has an annual production capacity of 4.4 million tons of coke, 400000 tons of methanol and 460000 tons of PVC, and has initially formed a coal sales and material trade E-commerce, shipping port, park construction, as one of the modern logistics system. In 2015, the company achieved an operating revenue of 52.2 billion yuan. Over the past 50 years, Huaibei mining industry has produced more than 800 million tons of raw coal and paid more than 30 billion yuan in profits and taxes.
