美国德州仪器由塞瑟尔·H·格林、J·埃里克·约翰逊、尤金·麦克德莫特、帕特里克·E·哈格蒂在1947年创办。最初是其母公司地球物理业务公司（GeophysicalServiceIncorporated,GSI）用来生产新发明的晶体管的。

麦克德莫特是GSI最初在1930年创办时的创办者。麦克德莫特、格林、约翰逊后来在1941年买下了这个公司。

1945年11月，帕特里克·哈格蒂被雇佣为实验室和制造部门（LaboratoryandManufacturing(L&M)）部门的总经理。1951年L&M部门凭借其国防方面的合同，迅速超越了GSI的地理部门。公司被重新命名为“通用仪器”（GeneralInstrument。同一年，公司又被再度命名为“德州仪器”，也就是它如今的名字。GSI逐渐变成了德州仪器的一个子公司，直到1988年GSI被出售给哈利伯托公司。

McDermott was the founder of GSI in 1930. McDermott, green and Johnson later bought the company in 1941. In November 1945, Patrick haghti was hired as general manager of the laboratory and manufacturing (L & M) department. In 1951, L & M quickly surpassed GSI's geographic division with its defense related contracts. The company was renamed general instrument. In the same year, the company was renamed Texas Instruments, which is now its name. GSI gradually became a subsidiary of Texas Instruments until it was sold to halliburto in 1988. Texas Instruments exists to innovate, manufacture and sell useful products and services to meet the needs of customers around the world.
