首钢长治钢铁有限公司（简称长钢）始建于1946年，是中国共产党在太行山革命根据地建设的一个钢铁企业（故县铁厂。金融危机大背景下，顺应钢铁业整合重组的历史潮流，2009年8月8日，长钢公司与首钢联合重组正式签约（首钢控股 90% ，长治市国资公司持股 10%），长钢更名为首钢长治钢铁有限公司，同年12月18日正式挂牌运营。公司集采矿（煤、石灰石等）、炼焦、炼铁、炼钢、轧材、水泥制造、工程建设、锻压机械制造、房地产开发于一体，具备年产铁钢材360万吨、360万吨、375万吨能力。

长钢地处晋冀豫三省交界处，交通便利：太焦、邯长铁路，G55、G22高速公路，207、208、309、长邯公路贯穿南北西东；长治已开通至北京、上海、广州等多条航线。

长钢具有发展钢铁工业的良好条件：长治煤炭储量243亿吨，铁矿探明储量1.4亿吨，石灰石探明储量5亿吨，白云石探明储量6000万吨，水资源为山西人均水资源的1.5倍。且长钢远离市区，位于当地主导风向的下风向。长钢还与山西沁新煤焦集团合资组建了山西长沁煤业有限公司。目前，长钢拥有上亿吨储量的焦煤资源、石灰石资源。

产品包括钢铁产品、锻压机械、矿渣水泥三个系列。钢铁产品主要为：棒材、高速线材、型钢三个大类。其中，棒材系列产品有热轧圆钢、热轧带肋钢筋、热轧光圆钢筋、支护用高强度锚杆钢系列；高速线材系列产品有普碳钢、硬线钢、螺纹盘条、光圆钢筋、预应力钢丝及钢绞线用钢、PC钢棒用钢、弹簧钢、冷镦钢、链条用钢、轴承钢、焊接用钢等系列；型钢产品系列有H型钢、工字钢等。产品覆盖全国绝大多数省份。

Changgang is located at the junction of Shanxi, Hebei and Henan provinces, with convenient transportation: Taijiao, Hanchang railway, G55, G22 expressway, 207, 208, 309, Changhan highway running through the north, South, West and East; Changzhi has opened many routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc. Changgang has good conditions for the development of iron and steel industry: Changzhi has 24.3 billion tons of coal reserves, 140 million tons of proven iron ore reserves, 500 million tons of proven limestone reserves, 60 million tons of proven dolomite reserves, and water resources are 1.5 times of Shanxi's per capita water resources. Moreover, Changgang is far away from the urban area and is located in the downwind direction of the local dominant wind direction. Changgang also established Shanxi Changqin Coal Industry Co., Ltd. jointly with Shanxi Qinxin coal coke group. At present, Changgang has over 100 million tons of coking coal resources and limestone resources. Products include steel products, forging machinery, slag cement three series. Iron and steel products are mainly: bar, high-speed wire rod and profile steel. Among them, the bar series products include hot-rolled round steel, hot-rolled ribbed steel, hot-rolled plain round steel, high-strength anchor steel for support; the high-speed wire series products include ordinary carbon steel, hard wire steel, threaded wire rod, plain round steel, prestressed steel wire and strand steel, pcsteel bar steel, spring steel, cold heading steel, chain steel, bearing steel, welding steel, etc.; the section steel series products H-beam, I-beam, etc. are listed.
