上海川湘调料食品公司是一家生产和经营川、湘风味麻辣食品的专业企业,创始于上世纪四十年代。40年代初有四川籍的有钱商人便在上海开办作坊。川湘的创始人温树清(四川合江人)在上海云南中路162号和宁海西路88号开设了“川江”土特产商店,并在当时的南市区天灯弄83号开设工场,专门生产和销售川、湘麻辣制品。那时沪上还设有“利川东”“四川”二家商店,经营按传统方法自制的川帮特产,以泡菜、辣酱、豆豉、腊肉等品种开拓销路。在注重原料进货、精工细作、形成经营特色后,又不断制出新品种。其中花色辣酱、粉蒸辣椒、金钩豆瓣、糟辣椒等,在当时国内市场均属首创,品种迅速增加到六十多种,川湘的麻辣制品从此扬名沪上。

1956年公私合营时,“川江”商店的和以上二家合并建成“川湘土产食品商店”迁址到西藏中路144号。以前店后工场的方式经营,以自产自销麻辣风味的“川湘调料”而闻名于上海,曾被广大市民誉为“调味王国、麻辣世界”。一九七五年在原川湘土产食品商店工场的基础上扩建为川湘土产食品厂,把商店改名为厂门市部。一九九三年被原国内贸易部首批命名为“中华老字号”名特企业。一九九三年川湘厂对“金塔”、“川湘”商标进行注册。一九九四年更名为上海川湘调料食品公司。一九九七年公司自筹资金在上海浦东康桥工业区建造了占地面积达十六亩和具有现代化流水线的新生产厂。多年来,“川湘人”致力于生产和经营具有四川、湖南特色的调料食品,已由六十多年前自产自销简陋商铺,发展为集商、工、贸为一体的调料食品公司,经营规模已由原来一年几十万元的销售额,发展到目前年60000多万元的销售额,近200万元年经营利润,企业先后被评为上海市商业小巨人和被上海企业家联合会评为上海市优秀企业,连续六年被评为上海市黄浦区文明单位。
