作为结构调整的一部分，摩比斯在金融危机后，将GALLOPER、 SANTAMO等四轮驱动整车生产事业转让给现代汽车，同时还将铁路部分转让给韩国铁路车辆（株），于1999年末正式投产新型底盘供应给现代汽车。从此，公司脱胎换骨成为汽车零部件专业公司，并于2000年11月正式将原现代精工更名为摩比斯。

为实现北京现代售后配件事业的专业化发展，2004年7月1日， 北京现代摩比斯汽车配件有限公司（简称“BMP”）由北京汽车投资有限公司与韩国现代支柱企业——现代摩比斯株式会社共同出资设立，注册资本700万美元，双方各占50％。同年9月，北京现代将售后配件事业整体划转至BMP，BMP正式开始运营 。2012年5月，为适应北汽集团化战略发展的要求，北京汽车投资有限公司将其所持有50%股份转让至北京北汽鹏龙汽车服务贸易股份有限公司，BMP在新的平台上迎来了更大的发展。

Mobis has a wide range of businesses, almost no auto parts products not involved in Mobis except tires, glass and BIW. Hyundai MOBIS Automobile Co., Ltd. was founded in 1977. It used to be called Hyundai Seiko at that time, and became the world's container manufacturer three years later. In the 1990s, it began to produce the whole vehicle such as Galloper santamo, and established the "myth of Galloper". As a part of the structural adjustment, Mobis transferred the four-wheel drive vehicle production enterprises such as Galloper and santamo to Hyundai Automobile after the financial crisis, and transferred the railway part to Korean railway vehicles (strains), which were officially put into production in late 1999 and supplied new chassis to modern automobiles. Since then, the company has been transformed into a professional auto parts company, and in November 2000, the former Hyundai Seiko was officially renamed Mobis. In order to realize the professional development of Beijing Hyundai after-sales parts industry, on July 1, 2004, Beijing Hyundai MOBIS Auto Parts Co., Ltd. (referred to as "BMP") was jointly funded and established by Beijing Automotive Investment Co., Ltd. and Hyundai Mobis Co., Ltd., a pillar enterprise of South Korea Hyundai, with a registered capital of 7 million US dollars, accounting for 50% each. In September of the same year, Beijing Hyundai transferred the after-sales accessories business to BMP as a whole, and BMP officially began operation. In May 2012, in order to meet the requirements of BAIC group's strategic development, BAIC motor Investment Co., Ltd. transferred its 50% shares to Beijing BAIC Penglong Automobile Service Trade Co., Ltd., and BMP ushered in greater development on the new platform.
