内蒙古大学位于呼和浩特市。学校于1957年高起点创办。学校学科涵盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、农学、管理学、艺术学11大学科门类，拥有中国少数民族语言文学、动物学2个国家重点学科，生态学1个国家重点培育学科；有18个自治区重点学科、8个自治区重点培育学科。有12个博士学位授权一级学科、另有1个博士学位授权二级学科，27个硕士学位授权一级学科、另有4个硕士学位授权二级学科，10个硕士专业学位授权类别（其中工程硕士含7个工程领域），7个博士后科研流动站。
现设有90个本科专业，有100个本科教学实验室、58个校内外教学实习实训基地。全校有各类在校生28718人。其中，本科生17821人、研究生6973人，校本部本科生12233人、研究生6835人、来华留学生年接收量800余人。在校生中，蒙古族、达斡尔族、鄂温克族、鄂伦春族等少数民族学生占35%左右。
Inner Mongolia University is located in Hohhot. The school was founded at a high starting point in 1957. The school's disciplines cover 11 university disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agronomy, management, and art. It has 2 national key disciplines, i.e. Chinese minority language and literature, zoology, 1 national key cultivation discipline, 18 autonomous region key disciplines, and 8 autonomous region key cultivation disciplines. There are 12 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, another second-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, 27 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, another 4 second-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 10 master's degree authorization categories (including 7 engineering fields) and 7 post doctoral research flow stations. There are 90 undergraduate majors, 100 undergraduate teaching laboratories and 58 teaching practice bases inside and outside the University. There are 28718 students in school. Among them, there are 17821 undergraduates and 6973 postgraduates, 12233 undergraduates and 6835 postgraduates from the University headquarters, and more than 800 overseas students come to China annually. Among the school students, about 35% are Mongolian, Daur, Ewenki, Elunchun and other ethnic minority students.
