Apple TV搭配了遥控器，它上面的玻璃触摸板不仅支持视频操作，还可用于游戏中。遥控器还配有一枚SIRI语音按钮，可用语音点播电视节目。该遥控器支持蓝牙4.0，配备音量控制键、内置加速器和陀螺仪，单次充电续航时间可以达到3个月。

Apple TV还支持新电视购物，赛事回放等多种电视娱乐功能。

同时，苹果为Apple TV开发了新的tvOS系统，并在其中添加了APP Store和照片及音乐的应用，此后即可在Apple TV上下载APP、游戏等应用。
