公司源于1936年的“洞山酒店”商号，前店后厂经营白酒（高梁酒）、水酒。1956年公私合营创建国营江西省宜丰县酒厂，是一家历史悠久的酒类生产企业。早期主要采取传统工艺生产水酒和少量白酒。1982年企业采用传统生产工艺和本地特产柳条糯研制开发新产品——“糯米冬酒”，并于同年建成一栋产量千吨的糯米冬酒生产车间，并于当年就完成生产糯米冬酒500吨。企业也逐步走向规模发展的轨道。以后陆续研制开发了“洞山黑糯米酒”、“洞山延寿酒”等三十多个品种。

2001年9月13日企业改制并更名为“江西省宜丰洞山酒业有限公司”，改制后公司进行了必要的改造，增加了生产设备和检验设备，同时对产品重新进行升级改造，经过几十年的打造，洞山酒业在广东、福建及江西地区有较高的美誉度。
