中国历程

英国航空公司的前身，帝国航空公司(Imperial Airways)在中国的业务历史可以追溯到在1936年开通了到香港的航班。

1980年，英航开通了伦敦到北京的航班。2004年9月，除客机服务之外，英航还开通了到上海的英航全球货运服务(BAWC)。

2004年以前，英航到中国的航班一直被限制为伦敦和北京之间的每周6次航班。2004年2月，英国和中国政府签署了谅解备忘录，大幅增加了两国之间的航班班次。2009年，英国的客机航班可以飞往北京、上海和其它四个特定的中国城市。就香港的航权问题，中英签署了单独的航空服务协议。2005年1月，中英之间的ADS(Approved Destination Status)协议签署，英国成为中国政府官方核准的公民出境旅游目的地国。2006年3月，中英之间的航权增长到每周31个客机航班和7个货机航班。

英国航空公司在中国地区的北京、上海、香港的机场拥有专用柜台。

2010年11月29日，英国航空公司的股东已批准该公司与西班牙伊比利亚航空公司(Iberia SA)合并。此项交易将产生欧洲第三大航空公司，市值大约为75亿美元。英航与伊比利亚航空还计划扩大它们与美国航空公司(AMR)的寰宇一家联盟(oneworld alliance)。
