安徽大学(Anhui University)是国家“211工程”重点建设高校，是安徽省人民政府与教育部共建高校。作为安徽现代高等教育开端，学校1928年创建于当时省会安庆市。抗战期间，学校被迫西迁，并一度流散，1946年复校，为国立安徽大学。1949年12月迁至芜湖，几经调整，学校于1956年迁建合肥市，1958年恢复招生。伴随着我国改革开放和现代化建设的伟大进程,学校进入历史上发展的黄金时期,尤其是进入国家“211工程”高校建设行列之后，更是实现了跨越式的发展。

学校现有四个校区和一个大学科技园，校园面积达3200余亩，建筑面积125万平方米，仪器设备总值8.18亿元，馆藏纸质图书350余万册。现有教职工2600余人。在校生规模约28000余人：其中研究生6000余人，全日制本、专科生21500余人。

学校有13个博士后科研流动站、12个博士学位授权一级学科、2个博士学位授权二级学科、31个硕士学位授权一级学科、2个硕士学位授权二级学科、28个专业硕士学位授权类别；设有26个院（系、部），95个本科专业；涉及理学、工学、文学、历史学、哲学、经济学、法学、管理学、教育学、艺术学等10个学科门类。

Anhui University is a key construction University of the "211 Project" of the state, which is jointly built by the people's Government of Anhui Province and the Ministry of education. There are more than 2600 teaching and administrative staff. There are more than 28000 students on campus, including 6000 graduate students and 21500 full-time students.
