武汉体育学院，原名中南体育学院，始于1953年，位于湖北省会武汉，国家体育总局与湖北省人民政府共建院校，国内首批独立设置的全日制普通高等体育院校之一

武汉体育学院原名中南体育学院，1953年成立于江西省南昌市，1955年迁至湖北省武汉市，1956年更名为武汉体育学院。

学校占地面积1820.6亩，全日制在校本科生11023人，研究生1177人，留学生26人。学校现设有15院2部2校等19个教学单位，有26个本科专业。建成精品资源共享课、视频公开课3门，省级精品资源共享课、视频公开课、精品课程22门，获批2个省级教学团队。 

学校师资力量雄厚，拥有一批在国内外有较大影响的专家学者和教练员。

学校十分重视对外交流与合作，先后与国（境）外近60个教育、体育机构建立了良好的合作关系，并与全国近30个省市体育局和行业体协进行了广泛的合作，取得了实质性合作成果。

Wuhan Institute of physical education, formerly known as Zhongnan Institute of physical education, was founded in 1953 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province. It was jointly established by the State General Administration of physical education and the people's Government of Hubei Province. Wuhan Institute of physical education, one of the first batch of Full-time Ordinary Colleges and universities in China, was originally named Zhongnan Institute of physical education. It was founded in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province in 1953, moved to Wuhan City, Hubei Province in 1955, and renamed Wuwu in 1956 Han Institute of physical education. The school covers an area of 1820.6 mu, with 11023 full-time undergraduates, 1177 postgraduates and 26 international students. The school now has 19 teaching units, including 15 institutes, 2 departments and 2 schools, with 26 undergraduate majors. Three excellent resource sharing courses and video open courses have been established, 22 provincial excellent resource sharing courses, video open courses and excellent courses have been established, and two provincial teaching teams have been approved. The school has a strong faculty and a group of experts, scholars and coaches with great influence at home and abroad.
