清华大学五道口金融学院诞生于2012年3月29日，由中国人民银行与清华大学合作，在中国人民银行研究生部的基础上建设而成，是清华大学第十七个学院。

学院遵循国际金融学科和商学院高等教育模式办学，锐意打造金融高等教育平台和金融学术、政策研究平台。

学院实行理事会领导下的院长负责制。理事会搭建起学界与业界的沟通桥梁，为学院在人才培养和学术研究方面契合行业需求奠定了坚实的基础。咨询机构“学术顾问委员会”和“战略咨询委员会”汇聚学界与业界的智慧和资源，为学院的学科建设、课程体系建设、学术研究等工作提出指导意见与建议。

学院依托出色的办学模式、借助优质教育资源，开设金融学博士、金融专业硕士、本科辅修、双学位金融MBA、金融EMBA、全球金融GFD以及高管教育等项目，培养高层次、创新型、国际化的金融人才。

学院延揽国际全职教师，巩固业界兼职师资优势。一批享有国际声望的教授陆续加盟或来院讲学，鼎力构筑学院雄厚的教学基础和科研实力。学院继承和发扬导师外聘、紧贴金融实务的传统，聘请更多政府和业界人士担任兼职导师和授课教师。截至2017年4月，全职师资数量达到21名，兼职教授数量达到17名，兼职硕士生导师142名。

学院积极履行社会责任，创办多种教育项目。打造“中国创业者训练营”和FIN100创业加速器，激发全民族的创业意识，提升广大创业者的创业能力。开设“金融媒体奖学金培训项目”，提升财经媒体从业人员的专业水平，推动财经媒体与金融业界的良性互动。建立“紫荆在线”教育平台，帮助中小企业、创业企业把握商业机会，助力地方经济发展。
