北京体育大学，成立于1953年，原名中央体育学院，1956年更名为北京体育学院，1993年更名为北京体育大学。学校位于海淀区信息路，占地面积约1100余亩，建筑面积约45万平方米，拥有室内外训练场馆共百余个。

学校设有奥林匹克运动学部、体育与健康学部、人文社科学部。奥林匹克运动学部下设冰雪运动学院、足球运动学院、中国篮球运动学院、中国排球运动学院、中国游泳运动学院、中国田径运动学院、极限运动学院、马术运动学院8个学院；体育与健康学部下设教育学院、管理学院、心理学院、武术与民族传统体育学院、体育休闲与旅游学院、运动人体科学学院、运动医学与康复学院7个学院；人文社科学部下设马克思主义学院、新闻与传播学院、艺术学院、国际体育组织学院（外国语学院）、国际文化学院、继续教育学院6个学院；附属竞技体育运动学校和附属中等体育专业学校2所中等学校。

学校以本科教育为基础、研究生教育为重点。现有16个本科专业，分别是体育教育、运动训练、社会体育指导与管理、运动人体科学、武术与民族传统体育、公共事业管理、体育经济与管理、新闻学、广告学、应用心理学、英语、表演、舞蹈表演、运动康复、休闲体育、汉语国际教育。拥有教育学、管理学、医学、艺术学、法学、文学、理学等7个学科门类。

学校现有各级各类在校学生万余名，其中本科生9000余名，研究生2400余名。
