浙江省盐业集团有限公司前身为成立于1978年的浙江省盐业公司。2005年1月，按照省政府浙政发〔2004〕46号文件要求，浙江省盐业公司和全省76家市、县（市、区）盐业公司（盐务管理局）进行改革重组，组建设立浙江省盐业集团有限公司。现集团公司注册资本金5亿元人民币。拥有16家二级子公司，17家三级子公司和52家三级分公司。

浙江省盐业集团有限公司作为省级食盐专营企业，承担着全省盐产品的生产经营管理和保障供应工作，主要从事原盐、食盐、加工盐、化工盐的生产经营，盐机械、盐包装材料、防伪“碘盐标志”、碘酸钾的统一管理和开发，盐业技术开发、咨询服务，实业投资，国内贸易及进出口业务等。总部现设有办公室（党委办公室）、组织人事部、投资发展部、财务资产部（财务中心）、企业管理部（信息中心）、监察审计部（法律事务部）（监事管理中心）、行业管理办公室、盐政法制处、盐业产品质量检测中心等职能部门。
