公司名称原为“祁阳县湘妹食品厂”，创建初期主要从事速冻食品加工，规模较小。2006年3月公司更名为“湖南湘妹食品有限公司”，规模迅速扩大，调整企业经营范围，在速冻食品加工的基础上，增添了水磨糯米粉、冰淇淋系列开发研制。同时大力发展基地建设，实现全产业链的经营。
