西部矿业股份有限公司（下称“公司”）是一家地处我国西部地区的以矿产资源综合开发为主业的大型矿业上市公司。公司由西部矿业集团有限公司为主发起人，于2000年12月28日发起设立，总部位于青海省西宁市，注册资本23.83亿元，于2007年7月12日在上海证券交易所挂牌上市。

公司在全国12个省、市、自治区拥有30余家（分）子公司和控股公司，业务范围涵盖有色金属、进出口贸易、金融等领域。截至2016年12月31日，公司总资产322亿元，净资产115亿元，营业收入278亿元。

公司主要从事铜、铅、锌、铁等基本有色金属、黑色金属的采选、冶炼、贸易等业务，分矿山、冶炼、贸易和金融四大经营板块，其中矿山板块主要产品有铅精矿、锌精矿、铜精矿等；冶炼板块主要产品有锌锭、粗铅、电铅、电解铜等。截至2016年12月底，拥有有色及贵金属矿产保有资源储量（金属量）为铅156.26万吨，锌242.56万吨，铜684.44万吨，钼36.33万吨，银2268.86吨，金17.63吨。

矿石处理能力方面，公司锡铁山矿有150万吨/年矿石处理能力，呷村银多金属矿形成70万吨/年矿石处理能力，获各琦铜矿形成300万吨/年的矿石处理能力。冶炼方面，公司拥有产能：粗铅10万吨/年、电锌10万吨/年，另有10万吨/年铅综合回收及烟气深度治理技改工程目前正处于试生产阶段，电铜10万吨/年在建。公司各类矿产资源储备丰富，冶炼产能逐渐释放，共同铸就公司核心竞争力。
