杭州汽车高级技工学校位于杭州市主城区，交通便捷。学校占地面积80亩（其中北大桥校区总用地面积25060平方米，建筑面积52794平方米）。学校改扩建工程投资1.9亿元，是杭州市重点民生工程。学校基础设施完善、功能齐全，有管理优异的智能化食堂，有配备空调、热水器、独立卫生间的学生宿舍，全部教室、实训室均配备多媒体教学条件。校园环境优美，是求知成才的理想之地。

学校创建于1975年，是杭州市创办较早的汽车类专业全日制中等职业学校，也是人社部认定的高级技工学校和国家重点技工学校。

学校开设有汽车、机械两大类共8个专业，全日制在校生近两千人，其中高级工、预备技师学生占三分之二。2016年各类成人教育年培训量在两万人次以上。在职教师170余人，具有副高以上职称或硕士以上学历的教师70人，占教师总数的42%。
