高球贡献:
PRGR对高尔夫球具的较大贡献,是在挑选球杆上为消费者引入了科学的定量标准。在1980年代,一般的球杆生产商都是以“X”、“S”、“R”等字母标识球杆硬度,而各生产商之间没有统一的规定,其所定义的标准并不相等,以至于客户在挑选球杆时无所适从。于是,PRGR在创始之初,就用科学方法反复验正,以击球速度为基础定义“起始球速”并作为挑选球杆的标准。从此以后,PRGR的球杆硬度均以挥杆速度“米/秒”而确定,球手挑选球杆时,借助测速仪器和专业软件,测量顾客击球的杆头速度、出球角度和出球的旋转量,从而掌握打球者的挥杆模式,所得到的数值,就可以帮助球手选定合适的使用款式及硬度合适的球杆。“起始球速”概念的提出,使选择球杆脱离了凭经验猜度的老路,而变为一件科学的事。其后,这一数值更成为高球行业相继采用的标准。
在1984年之前,挖空设计一直是铁杆的主流。因其制造成本、制作技术都比中空制造低,一般的制造商都采用挖空铸造。PRGR坚信中空设计优点“反发性高、高弹道、易操控”。在开发成本高、技术困难的条件下仍坚持制造中空设计的铁杆。1984年推出的500系列中,PRGR打破全球高尔夫业界传统,职业球员用杆以中空设计制造。20年后,900系列推出,此时,职业球员已普遍使用中空设计铁杆。2004年的910 TR-X 加入钨合金的复合构造,更实现了超低重心的铁杆,日本职业名将尾崎将司更是沿用至今。之后,2005年的915CR 及925CR更加更美体现了PRGR不断突破、追求创新的精神。
1986年,PRGR根据“杆身越长,球速越快,距离便更远”的理论,推出划时代的发球杆U240,球杆长度达到了44吋。当时一般的发球杆长度是以43吋为标准,因杆头以柿木及铸铁为主,杆头体积被受限制,要加长杆身则非常困难。1989年,PRGR再度研发的“U 240 IE”系列发球杆,将杆身长度推展至今天各生产商所普遍采用的45吋。
今日,所谓“万用杆”、“混血杆”或“铁木杆”是大热的球杆品种。而PRGR在球道木杆、万用杆及铁杆的创造方面,不断打破传统。代表作品有1988年面世的INTEST LX万用杆,其形状独特,家喻户晓,被称为“ TARAKO”(日本一种很受欢迎的小鱼)。INTEST LX杆头由碳纤维及不锈钢复合制造,重心低且深,使困扰众多球友的3、4号长铁杆难操控、低弹道的问题迎刃而解,令长铁杆变得如中铁杆一样易操控、高弹道。INTEST LX因此成为首支“万用杆”
之后,经过9年多的不断改良,ZOOM在1996年推出,确立了铁杆及木杆以外第三类球杆---万用杆,2000年的升级型号——ZOOM I系列,则进一步提升了此类球杆的地位。
PRGR所强调的哥伦布理论,由于1993年的REVERSE木杆,而更加彰显。此前,传统木杆的杆头型状上宽下窄,重心落在击球中心位置之上,又因制造技术的局限,无法改变杆头的材质厚薄,故重心位置主要取决于杆头形状。PRGR长年至力于此钻研,终于在REVERSE木杆上打破传统将杆头形状制作成上窄下宽,把重心移到击球面的中心位置。测试结果显示,因击中重心的准确率大增,加上没有多余的回旋量,球员挥杆力量全部转化成惊人的飞行距离。
秉承REVERSE的概念,PRGR陆续推出H/S BLACK TITANUM、H/S BLUE TITANUM、H/S RED TITANUM三个系列,进一步深化之前的构造。1990年代的发球杆以高反发为竞争主线,PRGR就开发出SPEAD TITANUM RT 及TR-X系列。2000年,USGA开始规定球杆回弹系数不得超过0.83,PRGR转而研发增长飞行距离的另两个重要因素:初出角度和回旋量。DUO系列及TR DUO系列便应运而生。
