保利万和电影院线成立于2002年，前身为重庆市电影发行放映公司下属子公司为主体的万和电影院线。2005年，由重庆市委市政府牵线，万和电影院线成功引入战略投资方—中国保利集团下属的北京保利文化艺术有限公司，并由此改组为保利万和电影院线。院线亦为中国保利集团和重庆市人民政府合作的文化项目，是中国保利集团和重庆市人民政府电影文化资源的一次高效整合。

中国保利集团和重庆市人民政府之间的合作，依托保利文化在国内的展演、剧院管理、博物、制片、电影及音像制品发行等经营优势和重庆市电影发行放映公司所属重庆市文化广播电视局在重庆文化艺术、广播电影电视的行政资源优势，以及重庆市电影发行放映公司本身作为省级电影发行机构的行业地位，通过保利万和电影院线为载体，近年来取得了高速的发展。目前，保利万和电影院线是由国家广电总局和重庆市文化广播电视局批准成立的跨省电影院线,拥有全国范围内的影片发行权。通过努力，保利万和电影院线已发展成为拥有尚橙电影工厂、郑州MK影城、深圳南山影城、北京马家堡影城、成都府青影城、重庆熙街影城、重庆环艺电影城、西安朱雀影城等135家，819张银幕。并有保利自主研发的巨幕、４Ｋ放映设备、全景声音控系统的各类影城的自营和加盟影院的大型电影院线。院线网线遍及全国多个大中城市，其中自行投资经营的影院45家。2016年，院线总票房收入约10.44亿元。
