牡丹卡

中国工商银行发行的银行卡统一命名为牡丹卡。“牡丹卡”是中国工商银行注册的第一个金融产品商标。

1987年10月,工商银行广州分行正式发行了全行第一张地区性信用卡,并命名该卡为“红棉卡”。红棉卡以红棉花(广州市花)和稻穗(广州简称穗)为卡标,以广州海珠桥为底图,分为金卡和银卡两种,金卡以金色为底色,银卡以灰色为底色。红棉卡具有储蓄、转账和透支功能,在广州和市辖番禺县的范围内通存通取、转账和消费。

中国工商银行于1989年10月15日正式发行牡丹信用卡,同年底加入万事达卡国际组织(MASTERCARD),1990年初加入威士国际组织(VISA)。1989年2月,工商银行确定以“牡丹”为工商银行信用卡名称,取牡丹花国色天香、富贵吉祥,以表达对持卡人的美好祝愿;借“牡丹花花中之王”的地位,寓意“牡丹卡卡中之冠”的前景,表达了工行人志在夺冠的勇气和信心。首张牡丹卡以深铜色为底案,烫金的牡丹花,雍容华贵,具有大行风范;主要功能包括信用消费、存取现金和转账结算,分为金卡和银卡两种。1989年10月15日,工商银行在北京、天津、上海和广州正式发行牡丹信用卡;之后15天左右,第一笔持卡人签约的消费单回到北京分行,这宣告了牡丹卡首发成功。随着牡丹卡的推出,红棉卡作为地方性的信用卡也逐步转换成牡丹卡。
