结合茂迪对于仪器以及太阳能的专业知识，再加上推广太阳能运用的前提下，茂迪在2002年成立了电力事业部，从事太阳光电系统的设计和安装，以减少发电时对环境的污染。在2003年时，「运用先进的科技来营造永续的环境(ModernTechnologyforaSustainableWorld)」成为茂迪的企业标语，来强调我们对于维护永续环境的信念。自2004年起，茂迪仪器事业部着手研发太阳能发电系统关键零组件太阳能逆变器，并于2012年初将其仪器事业部旗下之量测仪器部门资产售予长期合作的客户B&KPrecisionCorporation("B&K公司")，以期更专注于太阳能产业。2012年5月，茂迪更进一步将仪器事业部及电力事业部合并成为仪电事业中心，整合此两大部门的资源，期能提供客户更专业及完整的服务。

2009年，茂迪总产出达360MW，是全球前十大太阳能电池制造厂。茂迪（苏州）新能源有限公司2006年12月31日，茂迪全资子公司茂迪（苏州）新能源有限公司成立，旨在进一步巩固及拓展中国大陆市场，茂迪（苏州）新能源有限公司位于江苏省昆山市高新区可再生能源产业基地。于2007年3月破土动工，并于2008年9月顺利建成投产。2009年底产能达到130MW。

In response to the expansion of the company's business scope, modi changed its English name from meter International Corporation to Motech industries, Inc.
