胶州市大白菜协会成立于2004年8月30日，协会会员包括从事胶州大白菜种子科研、生产、经营及大白菜种植、购销、加工、烹饪、生产资料供应的单位会员33个、个人会员126人，是按照现代企业制度运行的股份制行业组织。

协会座落在山东半岛胶州湾畔美丽的“金胶州”。四季分明、交通发达，胶济、胶黄、胶新铁路横贯境内，济青、环胶州湾、同三高速公路、204国道纵横交错，是重要的交通枢纽。 是唐宋时期全国五大商埠之一，胶州大白菜原产地和胶州大秧歌、胶州茂腔发源地。

胶州大白菜，是中国名产，至今已有一千多年的种植历史，远在唐代即享有盛誉，传入日本、朝鲜后，被尊称为“唐菜”；公元1875年，“胶州大白菜”在东京博览会上展出，从此名扬天下。“胶州大白菜”以其品质优良而著称，具有“帮嫩薄、汁乳白、味鲜美、纤维细、营养好”等优点，其品质和盛名史籍多有记载，文人多有吟颂。1956年苏联专家亚维尔舍金.沙加诺维奇来胶考察，回国之后出版了专著《中国宝贝—山东胶州白菜》；鲁迅先生散文集《朝花夕拾.藤野先生》中对胶州大白菜的描述，更彰显了“胶州大白菜”的尊贵。目前，胶州大白菜在我市的三里河、胶河、墨水河、胶莱河、大沽河、洋河两岸广为种植，面积6万亩左右，其品种也由原来的大叶、二叶、小叶三个品系发展到现在的多个系列杂交种，可春、夏、秋三季种植，周年供应市场。

It was well-known in Tang Dynasty, and was honored as "Tang cuisine" after it was introduced into Japan and North Korea. In 1875, Jiaozhou Chinese cabbage was exhibited in Tokyo Expo, and has been famous all over the world since then. Jiaozhou Chinese cabbage is famous for its excellent quality.
