华东师范大学出版社创建于1957年6月。1959年因国家调整出版事业而停办,1980年6月复社。2009年6月,华东师范大学出版社更名为华东师范大学出版社有限公司,由华东师范大学主办,中华人民共和国教育部主管。

华东师范大学出版社秉承大夏大学(华东师范大学前身)的人文精神,依托华东师范大学深厚的学术底蕴,形成了以大教育为出版宗旨的综合性出版特色。出版物主要由教材、学术著作、社会读物构成。教材包括基础教育课本和教学辅导书、高校教材和教学参考资料,以及涵盖学前教育到职后教育等的各种教育教学资源;学术著作以教育学、心理学,以及其他人文和社会科学著作为主;社会读物主要为人文社科大众读物和具有教育、科学内涵的幼儿及青少年读物。
