2015年11月10日重庆中烟工业有限责任公司挂牌成立，中国年轻的中烟工业公司宣告诞生。

重庆中烟是中国烟草总公司的全资子公司，下辖重庆卷烟厂、涪陵卷烟厂、黔江卷烟厂。拥有“天子”/“龙凤呈祥”两大品牌。

重庆中烟是在中国烟草行业深化改革背景下诞生的一家新公司。因考虑到生产规模越来越大、行政区划管理、川渝中烟进一步深化内部改革及扁平化管理的需要，在充分征求地方党委政府意见的基础上，国家烟草专卖局党组决定在川渝中烟基础上分别组建四川中烟和重庆中烟。

重庆中烟虽是中国烟草工业中2年轻的“小兄弟”，但有川渝烟草工业重组10多年发展为基础，所以公司拥有涵盖生产、技术、原料、管理等方面的运行保障体系，拥有较好市场基础和知名度、美誉度的核心品牌，并形成了丰富的品规系列。
