中国矿业大学是教育部直属的全国重点高校、国家“211工程”、“985优势学科创新平台项目”和国家“双一流”建设高校。学校坐落于江苏省徐州市，校园占地面积4413亩（文昌校区1555亩，南湖校区2858亩），校舍建筑面积130余万平方米。

中国矿业大学的前身是由英国福公司创办于1909年的焦作路矿学堂。

学校设有能源、材料与物理学部、矿业工程学院、安全工程学院、力学与土木工程学院、机电工程学院、信息与控制工程学院、资源与地球科学学院、化工学院、环境与测绘学院、电气与动力工程学院、数学学院、计算机科学与技术学院、管理学院、公共管理学院、马克思主义学院、外国语言文化学院、建筑与设计学院、体育学院、孙越崎学院、国际学院、职业与继续教育部等21个学院（部）。学校另有徐海学院和银川学院等两个独立学院。
