万承志堂创始人万嗣轩（1822~1898），曾为杭城一代巨贾，与曾国藩为世交好友。其子万一奇官至三品，时任清朝“两浙盐运使”。万公于清光绪初年1875年，为圆父亲利济苍生之夙愿创办了当时杭城著名的药馆“万承志堂”。
