浙江中烟工业有限责任公司由浙江中烟工业公司改制而成,是行业第一批建立董事会制度的省级工业企业之一。公司的主要经营范围为:烟草制品的生产、销售,烟用物资、烟机零配件的经营,烟叶进口和卷烟出口业务,与烟草制品生产销售相关的生产经营,多元化经营,资产经营等。

2003年7月,浙江烟草实施工商分设,成立了浙江中烟工业公司。公司成立后,根据行业改革与发展的新形势,确立了打造“一个优秀企业”的发展目标,制定了“内联外拓”的发展战略。2006年9月19日,经国家烟草专卖局批准,公司和原下属杭州卷烟厂、宁波卷烟厂实行联合重组,确立了浙江中烟工业公司一个法人主体的地位。2007年11月30日,根据国家烟草专卖局、中国烟草总公司(国烟法[2007]481号)文件精神,公司成立了董事会,正式更名改制为浙江中烟工业有限责任公司,企业发展步入了新的阶段。

按照现代企业制度的要求,公司努力构建高效顺畅的内部运行机制,共有内设机构16个部门,以及杭州、宁波2个制造部,拥有员工3500余人,资产总额超200亿元。公司主推“利群”、“大红鹰”、“雄狮”三大品牌,其中“利群”、“大红鹰”均为“中国名牌”和“中国驰名商标”。“利群”还是国家商务部首批认定的“中华老字号”之一,2009年批发市值达到328.3亿元。在主攻国内市场的同时,公司认真贯彻落实国家局“两个跨越”的要求,积极开拓海外市场,“摩登”等品牌远销中东、南美、印尼等二十多个国家和地区。
