厦门银行前身为厦门市城市合作银行，成立于1996年，是经中国人民银行批准、具有独立法人资格的股份制商业银行，现有注册资本23.75亿元。

2008年，厦门银行成功引进台湾富邦金控的全资子公司--香港富邦银行作为战略股东，成为大陆较早一家具有台资背景的城市商业银行。目前，厦门银行大股东为厦门市财政局，持股占比20.21%；第二大股东为香港富邦银行，持股占比15.78%。

厦门银行在重庆和福建省所有九个设区市设立分行（其中，厦门为分行级业务管理总部），全行现有57个现代化经营网点，员工约2300人。近年来，厦门银行向构建多元化、多层次的金融服务体系稳步前进，在泉州成立控股子公司--福建海西金融租赁有限责任公司；在厦门自贸试验区设立资金营运中心专营机构；在福建自贸试验区福州片区创设全国较早一家理财专营机构--厦门银行理财中心。

Xiamen bank, formerly known as Xiamen City cooperative bank, was established in 1996. It is a joint-stock commercial bank approved by the people's Bank of China and has independent legal personality. Its current registered capital is 2.375 billion yuan. In 2008, Xiamen Bank successfully introduced Hong Kong Fubang bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taiwan Fubang Financial Holding Co., Ltd., as a strategic shareholder, and became an earlier city commercial bank with Taiwan background in the mainland. At present, the majority shareholder of Xiamen bank is Xiamen Municipal Finance Bureau, accounting for 20.21% of the total; the second largest shareholder is Fubang bank, accounting for 15.78%. Xiamen bank has set up branches in all nine districts and cities in Chongqing and Fujian Province (among them, Xiamen is the branch level business management headquarters), with 57 modern business outlets and about 2300 employees. In recent years, Xiamen bank has made steady progress in building a diversified and multi-level financial service system. It has set up a holding subsidiary in Quanzhou, Fujian Haixi Financial Leasing Co., Ltd.; set up a specialized organization of capital operation center in Xiamen pilot free trade zone; and set up an earlier financial management specialized organization in China, Xiamen bank financial management center, in Fuzhou area of Fujian pilot free trade zone. By the end of 2016, the total assets of Xiamen bank group were 189 billion yuan, the balance of various local and foreign currency deposits was 102.5 billion yuan, and the balance of full caliber loans was 69.1 billion yuan; all major financial indicators met regulatory requirements, and the credit rating continued to maintain AA +. In recent years, Xiamen bank has fully used the financial service and management concept of strategic shareholders for reference, continuously strengthened characteristic and differentiated operation, focused on building a "model bank for cross strait financial cooperation", and continued to carry out the first trial and innovation in serving Taiwan merchants and small and micro enterprises to boost the development of the real economy; in terms of currency clearing and retail business, Xiamen bank has made progress with Taiwan banks Multi dimensional cooperation of the bank; set up the Taiwan business department and emerging finance department earlier in the mainland banking industry to provide Taiwan merchants with personalized financial products such as "capital three links" and "RMB direct flight".
