时至今日,大白兔奶糖已经成为中国首屈一指的糖果品牌。周恩来总理甚至于1972年将大白兔奶糖馈赠访华的美国总统尼克松。该糖果品牌虽然已经有一定历史,但随着中国经济增长,城市和农村均对大白兔糖果的需求有增无减,尤其在农历新年期间,不少家庭的全盒里都可以找到大白兔奶糖的踪影。2004年,大白兔奶糖销售额达6亿元人民币,每年以双位百分比递增,并向外出口至40多个国家和地区,包括美国、欧洲、新加坡等。

2012年1月31日,上海梅林正广和股份有限公司发布公告,称近日公司非公开发行所募集资金购买的上海冠生园食品有限公司(冠生园集团全部食品主业经营性资产)、上海市食品进出口有限公司(上海市食品进出口公司经营性资产)已完成工商变更登记。冠生园集团旗下有关大白兔奶糖等经营性资产也同时注入上海梅林。
