植根中国 共创辉煌

康明斯与中国的历史渊源可以追溯到半个多世纪前的1940年代。1941年3月11日，美国总统弗兰克林·罗斯福签署《租借法案》，向包括中国在内的38个国家提供战时援助。《租借法案》对华军援物资中就包括配备康明斯发动机的江防巡逻艇和军用卡车。

1944年末，一家重庆企业致函康明斯公司，寻求建立商业联系，在中国进行康明斯发动机的本地化生产，时任康明斯发动机公司总经理埃尔文·米勒在回函中对此表示了浓厚的兴趣，希望中日战争结束后康明斯能够在华建厂。由于众所周知的原因，米勒先生的想法只能等到三十年后的1970年代，伴随着中美关系的逐步缓和，才有望变为现实。

康明斯是在华设立研发中心的外资柴油机公司，2006年8月康明斯与东风公司合作设立的发动机技术研发中心在湖北武汉正式启用。
