1989年牛仔服饰界的老将JosVanTilburg(约斯·范·蒂尔博格)受Secon集团委派建立一个牛仔服饰公司。Secon是一个总部位于阿姆斯特丹的女性服装集团,如Turnover、AnotherWoman和Creensstone就是其下属的品牌。它使用来自瑞士的Bigstar集团的洗衣设备和购买办公室并决定申请获得Bigstar集团下属的一个品牌Gapstar的授权。

1990年JosVanTilburg邀请了法国牛仔服饰的著名人物PierreMorisser(皮埃尔·莫里赛特)(Liverto,C17,LEE)作为设计师。仅仅在比利时、荷兰、卢森堡三国销售的Gapstar就获得了一定的成功。

1993年Gapstar开始了它的全球发展战略,首先在德国建立分支机构。

1994年PierreMorisset开始只为Gapstar进行设计。

1995年Gapstar正式更名为G-Star,并通过Elwood款式引进了RawDenim的理念。

1998年G-Star英国公司成立,同年正式进入中国大陆。

2000年G-Star日本和美国公司成立。

1996年G-STAR首次推出RAWDENIM系列,并于德国举行的国际牛仔时装展获得高度赞赏,被瞩为牛仔裤的一大突破。

RAWDENIM并非G-STAR首创,凡未经处理的牛仔布都可称为RAWDENIM早期的问题在于缩水较大,最终G-STAR采用了"SANFORIZE"的方法来处理,令布料定型。减少缩水度,解决了缩水问题,现客人便不用买大两号以内缩水的烦恼。
