In 1988, the Portuguese savings and credit bank (CGD) became the main shareholder of Atlantic Bank Co., Ltd., which is the largest state-owned financial service group in Portugal. In 2001, Atlantic bank and CGD merged. According to the merger plan, the branch of Atlantic Bank Co., Ltd. in Macao was changed into a wholly-owned subsidiary of CGD on July 1, 2001, and registered as a local bank in Macao. As a commercial bank and money issuing bank, Atlantic Bank Co., Ltd. made great contribution to the economic and social development of Macao in the last century, and now still plays the role of issuing money and acting as the financial revenue and expenditure agent of the SAR government. According to the instructions issued by the China Banking Regulatory Commission on February 16, 2006, Atlantic Bank Co., Ltd. was granted a representative office in Shanghai. After completing the registration procedures of relevant units in Shanghai, the Shanghai Representative Office of Atlantic Bank Co., Ltd. was officially opened on May 10, 2006. The main business scope is to provide information to the head office, conduct market research, business contact and other services.
