和兴白花油的历史可追溯到1927年的马来西亚-槟城，当时，和兴白花油始创人颜玉莹先生研制出一种可供涂擦用的药油，亦就是现时家传户晓之和兴白花油。

初期研制成的和兴白花油只供私人使用，由于这种药油疗效显著，极受亲朋戚友欢迎，因此，颜先生决定大量生产这种药油，并向市场销售。

由于颜先生钟情于水仙花(即白花)，故把这药油命名为「白花油」。而有关白花油的商标，则是由颜刘昆珠女士于1935年在新加坡注册。

随着在槟城及新加坡的成功，颜先生遂将注意力转移到其他地方，当时他洞悉到香港的优势，故决定前来香港发展。为了能在市场上分一杯羹，颜先生采取一系列策略性的市场推广，包括利用在当时相当独特的大型户外广告，由著名的粤剧艺人协助宣传，以及积极参与1953年及以后多届由中华厂商联合会主办的香港工业产品展览会(工展会)，以确立和兴白花油作为多用途健康药油的市场地位。
