运漕，古称蓼花州，曾为安徽省含山县首镇，自东汉末年建镇以来，已有一千多年历史。明、清鼎盛时期，运漕有48道闸、72条巷，人口达1万人之多，各类商号、牙行、作坊、店铺、钱庄、当铺、茶馆等数百家，铺面连襟，鳞次栉比。漕河上商船往来如梭，两岸泊船绵延数里。街面商贾云集，车水马龙，一派商贸繁荣景象。为我省古代江北八大商业重镇之一。
