中国农业大学教学动物医院创建于1949年，是中国农业大学动物医学院本科生及兽医临床专业硕士的教学和实习基地，近年来，中国农业大学教学动物医院为中国兽医诊疗行业培养和输送了近10万人才。

目前，中国农业大学教学动物医院实用面积近3000平方米，每天的接诊病例在100-150例，其中包含很多的疑难转诊病例。在医院的发展过程中，不断增添设备和仪器，完善了医院的硬件设施，同时建立了完善的医疗团队。中国农业大学动物医学院非常注重人员培养，先后与国际医院等有着深入的交流和学术往来，为国内同行业务水平的提高做出了贡献，成为中国大陆小动物临床的代理者。

医院包括前台、外科门诊、内科门诊、中兽医门诊、手术室、住院部、实验室诊断中心、影像诊断中心、药房和注射室和宠物用品超市等。目前，共有103名兽医和技术人员为动物提供服务，主要服务对象是犬、猫，同时还可以为马、奶牛、兔子、豚鼠、鸟、乌龟、猴子和蛇等动物提供服务。

为了更好地提高动物福利，组建了麻醉和镇痛团队，每台手术均由麻醉师进行监护，并进行配套的疼痛管理，减轻动物的痛苦；对于每个手术病例，都会在术后定期进行回访，给予专业的指导和建议。

为了让每个住院动物得到更好地治疗和护理，根据动物的体况和需求，制定不同的营养计划，满足每个住院动物的营养需求，同时进行看护，以便于对危重病例进行更好的护理和治疗；对于接受过住院治疗且需要接受终生治疗的病例，会在动物出院时给主人提出完善的治疗和护理建议，并与主人保持沟通和联系，以更好地帮助主人完成对患病动物的日常护理和治疗。
