山东工艺美术学院位于山东省济南市，始建于1973年，是目前我国独立建制的31所普通高等艺术院校之一，是学士学位、硕士学位授予单位。自1989年装潢艺术设计和染织艺术设计两个本科专业首批获得学士学位授予权以来，截至目前已有14个本科专业拥有学士学位授予权。2006年1月经国务院学位委员会批准，成为硕士学位授予单位。现已形成以本科教育、研究生教育、高等职业教育和继续教育的多层次办学格局。经过多年发展，学校已发展成为一所专业特色鲜明、办学成绩突出、在国内外具有一定影响的设计艺术院校。

学校坚持走产学研相结合、教学科研（创作）为经济文化建设服务的道路，取得显著经济和社会效益。2002年以来，学校先后承担了山东省教育成就展、中国国际教育科技博览会山东展厅、山东省教育事业“十五”成就暨“十一五”规划展的总体设计，“2006山东（国际）文化产业博览会”会徽、数字形象大使、孔子像（范本）的设计；承担第十一届全国运动会会徽设计；主办“2003当代书籍设计专家论坛”，主办2004山东省青年美展——“平安山东”招贴设计大赛，“2005全国视觉传达设计教育论坛暨首届‘设计之星’全国大学生优秀平面设计作品展”，“2006中国（济南）当代国际摄影双年展暨首届世界大学生摄影艺术展”，“2007齐鲁国际摄影周暨墨子小孔成像国际摄影研讨会”；承办“2002中国当代壁画艺术座谈会”，“2006山东（国际）文化产业博览会”系列作品展览、学术论坛活动；承担劳动和社会保障部“国家职业资格——广告设计师”标准制定及培训项目；中国民艺研究所和山东省非物质文化遗产研究中心参与国家“中国民间文化遗产抢救工程”项目；教师多人次在国内外举办作品展，其中有3位教授的个人作品展在中国美术馆举办。

学校实施开放办学战略，积极开展国内外教育合作与学术文化交流。学校与韩国、日本、英国、美国、瑞典、芬兰、奥地利、法国、俄罗斯和澳大利亚等国的24所学校建立了校际关系，并签订了实质性合作协议，如学校与瑞典皇家理工学院联合成立了“艺术与科学研究中心”，与英国斯塔福郡大学联合成立“设计管理研究中心”，与美国俄勒冈大学等3所大学合作建立“非物质文化遗产数字化研究中心”，与韩国庆北大学、庆云大学联合举办师生作品展。2005年学校加入国际设计艺术院校联盟，进一步拓展了国际交流与合作平台。同时学校重视与国内高校和文化机构的交流与合作，先后与南京艺术学院、东南大学、山东大学联合培养硕士研究生；2004年以来与山东大学、山东经济学院建立本科访学关系。山东电视台、山东美术出版社、山东话剧院等文化单位既是学校的校外实习基地，又是项目合作单位。

Shandong Institute of Arts and crafts is located in Jinan City, Shandong Province. It was founded in 1973. It is one of the 31 independent institutions of higher art in China. It is the awarding unit of bachelor's degree and master's degree.
